Mieke Weckesser (BE-1979) is a performer and writer. In 2015, she graduated with distinction at the University of Antwerp, where she studied philosophy and film-, theatre-, and literature sciences. In 2017, she gratuated at TIP – Schule für Tanz, Improvisation und Performance in Freiburg. Previously, she was part of a movement research Group at the CarWash Theatre in Antwerp (led by Louise Chardon), investigating sensory awareness and its transcription within the field of dance. Between 2008 and 2010, she worked on a regular basis with writer and theater director Hazim Kamaledin. As part of the Freie Tanzszene Freiburg, Mieke created performances in cooperation with Tanznetz Freiburg and Südufer Freiburg. At present, and together with Agnes Schneidewind, she is the artistic leader of Aliens Connected. Mieke is currently living in Portugal where she leads movement sessions exploring the relation between movement improvisation, imagination and embodied poetry.
