Mieke Weckesser (BE-1979) is a performer and writer. In 2015, she graduated with distinction at the University of Antwerp, where she studied philosophy and film-, theatre-, and literature sciences. In 2017, she gratuated at TIP – Schule für Tanz, Improvisation und Performance in Freiburg. Previously, she was part of a dance and movement research Group at the CarWash Theatre in Antwerp (led by Louise Chardon), where she deepened her research in sensory awareness and its transcription within the field of dance. Between 2008 and 2010, she worked on a regular basis with writer and theater director Hazim Kamaledin. Her current research borders critical cultural theories such as narratology, eco-phenomenology & post-humanism. As a freelance performer, she is part of the Freie Tanzszene Freiburg and creates performances in cooperation with Tanznetz Freiburg and E-Werk Freiburg. Together with Agnes Schneidewind, she is the artistic leader of Aliens Connected.
